CASE STUDY
Strategic design innovation across automotive, tech, plastics, and education
The EI platform modules are used in support of the Project Positive effort, led by Biomimcry 3.8 and its team of integrated service partners including Jacobs, HoK, and the EcoMetrix Solutions Group.
As part of this collaborative effort to help clients understand their impact on nature as they move toward achieving a positive ecological impact, EI modules have been utilized to support the partners’ strategic design innovations by providing quantified performance values for a suite of metrics, grouped into Air Quality, Climate, Water Quality, Water Quantity, Soil, Biodiversity, and Human Wellbeing categories.
These analyses have helped the design team – and ultimately clients (primarily in the corporate and academic sectors) – to understand current site performance, the impact of business-as-usual design, and the benefits provided by multiple, iterative design scenarios in comparison to highly functioning reference (benchmark) conditions. The value added to these organizations lies in the ability to make informed cost/benefit decisions as they quantify, analyze, monitor, and report on tangible ecological performance.
The Project Positive initiative is an exemplary example of vision and collaboration in its drive to inspire regenerative and nature positive outcomes.
